The #1 Handheld XRF for RoHS Compliance Testing
Innov-X Alpha Series™
  • Automatically decides polymer, alloy or mixed (non-homogeneous) for error-free operation.  Method is patent pending.
  • Automatically identifies samples as homogenous or “Mixed” (patent pending) for quantitative analysis or screening.
  • Best limits of detection of any Handheld XRF, especially for Cd in alloys using our RoHS Engine method.
  • Definitive Pos./Neg. Classifications for each RoHS element.
  • Tube-based system, no isotopes.
  • Ergonomic, lightweight design.
  • Versatile PDA-based XRF for universal standard platform, easy upgradeability.

At just 3 pounds, the Alpha Series handheld XRF is a popular tool at hundreds of RoHS compliant companies because it delivers a simple point & shoot screening method.

  • Analyze solder or hardware in the middle of the manufacturing process;
  • Audit suppliers for their management of lead-free & leaded components;
  • Screen at incoming parts or final qc;

The Alpha Series combines ease of use with excellent analytical performance. The system automatically decides sample type (polymer or alloy or mixed), then optimizes the x-ray source and filtering (RoHS Engine) to deliver optimal performance on every sample type.  Also, of great value, when the analyzer classifies samples as “Homogeneous” or “Mixed,” operators know if they are achieving quantitative analysis or are performing screening.

The popularity of the Alpha Series is driven by its ease of use. Non-technical operators can screen thousands of components weekly. Such wide screening greatly reduces the risk of receiving or shipping non-compliant components. Return on investment comes from using XRF to screen a large volume of parts, reducing the role of laboratory analysis to a small volume of conformational tests. XRF screening costs cents per test – laboratory analysis costs hundreds of dollars per test. The combination of XRF screening and lab confirmation provides the lowest risk at the lowest cost.

This analyzer is available with 2 powerful factory upgrades that can be added on at any time during the life of the analyzer:

  • Laser-targeting with camera – This feature allows the operator to positively target a component on a complex assembly as well as to photo document the test automatically.  Aim & Fire, then File or Print!
  • 3 mm Beam Spot Collimator – Innov-X’s 6 Position Filter Wheel can deliver more than optimized analyses!  Beyond the RoHS Engine software varying filtering, voltage, & current to optimize analysis energy for plastics vs. alloys, the Laser/Camera system can be enhanced with a software selectable 3 mm beam spot collimator.  This allows you to selectively zero in on questionable components – reducing or eliminating interference from near by components;  AND, “quick as a click,” it lets you zoom out to maximize sensitivity and speed up analytical decisions – you choose!
